| Boasting seven-and-a-half miles of white sand beach,
this barrier island on the Gulf of Mexico is a popular year-round
vacation destination. The island has two public beaches, Coquina and
Manatee, where visitors bask in the clear, bright blue waters. They
come for swimming, sunbathing, surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling,
walking, shell-gathering and flying kites. Swimming is open to the
public year-round; midsummer temperatures range between 85 and 95.
The two beaches have restrooms and concession stands. |

This 556-acre recreational area extends along 3 miles
of the south shore of Lake Manatee. Recreational activities include
camping, swimming, fishing, and boating. A boat ramp is available,
but boat motors are limited to no more than 20 horsepower. Location:
15 mi E of Bradenton on SR 64. A Florida state fishing license is
required.
Pets: No pets are permitted on beach or in campgrounds.
